You don't just want a qualified agent, you want the best available. You want a real Realtor® who has the experience, knowledge, and integrity to make sure that everything possible is done to get your home sold in the shortest time and at the highest price.
If you don't make the right choice, you may find yourself frustrated and highly stressed rather quickly. Here are some things to look for when identifying and selecting your Realtor® to help you sell your home.
- Don't just look at signs in your neighborhood and think that you have the answer. Some agents are just listing agents and make a business of putting out signs in selected neighborhoods. This does not mean that these agents are especially successful in selling homes. Sometimes, they're highly successful at getting listings.
- When you choose an agent that focuses only on listing homes but not selling them, you are assured that if the other agents in the area do not bring a buyer you will have a long wait.
- Many times listing agents spend minimal amounts of money to market listings because they are hoping someone else will sell the property. You want an agent that is not only going to list your property but who will aggressively market your property and make every effort to sell it. This kind of agent will have a comprehensive marketing program to market your home not only reaching other agents but also reaching buyers.
- You want a well balanced agent that focuses on having a reasonable percentage of their business from the sale of homes as well as a reasonable percentage of business that comes from the listing of homes.
When you are communicating with and speaking with an agent there are a number of things that you can look for that will give you a good indication of how the agent will perform once the listing is signed. In our next blog – we will talk about human behavior & what to look for from top real estate agents!
